This project analyzes the problems faced by street vendors in the public space of carrera séptima street in Bogotá. Using methodologies such as critical, speculative and fictional design, the dynamics of informality, privatization and labor precariousness were investigated. Satire and fiction were used to develop a mobile street vending device that evidences the shortcomings of current public policies and guarantees. The fieldwork included immersion in the context and interviews to understand the daily challenges of the vendors. The proposal seeks to raise awareness about segregation and vulnerability in public space, highlighting the importance of design tools as instruments of social criticism and visualization of structural problems.

The functionality of this device or street vending cart is intended to expose the existing shortcomings, such as the lack of guarantees focused on the health and welfare of street vendors on the public space and their relationship with entities such as public authorities and passers-by. Therefore, its functionality is focused on being able to offer its operator (vendor) the possibility of having access to the currently ignored guarantees that provide economic stability, but beyond that to have the support of an outside entity that supports their safety within the space, avoiding the generation of critical situations such as physical and verbal abuse by the public forces. These situations mentioned above, make these people obtain access to one of these devices, guaranteeing their stability and security within the territory. Likewise, this means that they do not have to depend on an unstable economy, as the entities “in charge” generally offer them.
